When Stacy Peralta formed the Bones Brigade skate team, he decided to ask Tony Hawk to join as he showed so much promise. At the time, Hawk was a young teenager with the highest skateboarding expectations, which Peralta could relate to. Peralta took Hawk under his wing and became a mentor to him, helping him navigate the complicated world of being the best skater in the world at such a young age. As Hawk became an adult and grew into an enormous amount of fame, Peralta helped teach him how to handle fame and build a brand around himself. Eventually, Peralta’s guidance helped Hawk create his iconic Birdhouse brand, which has gone on to positively change skateboarding immensely, similar to Peralta’s Powell-Peralta brand.
