Stacy Peralta is one of the foundational reasons that skating is a successful sport and business today. Peralta became a top skater as the sport grew in popularity during the 70s and 80s, and he became the #1 ranked professional skateboarder in the world at just 19 years old. As a teenager, Peralta was a member of the Z-Boys skate team, who changed the landscape of skating with their surf-based style of riding and crazy aerial tricks. Later in 1978, Peralta teamed up with George Powell to create Powell-Peralta, a revolutionary skateboarding company that produces innovative skateboard equipment. Powell-Peralta also featured the Bones Brigade, which was a team of top skaters at the time.
