Patrick Roy is recognized as one of the greatest goaltenders in NHL history, and his career started with a successful stint with the Montreal Canadiens. With only one game played in the 1984-85 season, Roy truly had his rookie season in 1985-86 where he instantly emerged on the scene at 20 years old and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. The Canadiens rode his hot hand in the playoffs where he really made a name for himself, helping carry Montreal to win the Stanley Cup Finals. Roy’s performance in the playoffs stood out and he was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the MVP of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He would continue to blossom as a star in the league and became a regular in the NHL All-Star Game. As the Canadiens remained mainstays in the playoffs, Roy helped lead them back to the promised land in 1993 where he won his second career Stanley Cup and second Conn Smythe Trophy.
